Most Beloved Park...

This large 351 acre metropolitan park is considered the best park in the whole Austin Area and is cherished by residents and visitors alike. It has a plethora of amenities such as 3 picnic sites, a shelter, a Zilker Playscape, a Disc Golf Course, 5 volley ball courts, a Zilker Clubhouse, an Austin Nature and Science Center, a Barton Springs Pool, a McBeth Recreation Center, Botanical Gardens, a Zilker's Caretaker's Cottage, and a Hillside Theatre. 
The park also hosts signature park events. In the first Sunday in March each year Zilker Metropolitan Park host the famous ABC Kite Festival. Hundreds of kites take flight in a stunning display with contest winners receiving trophies for their homemade kites. The park also hosts Zilkers Summer Musical by Zilker Theatre Productions. For about a month in the summer they preform a single popular musical. They also host events like Blues on the Green and Austin City Limits Music Festival. In the winter season the park also puts up their Zilker Holiday Tree composed of 39 streamers each holding 81 multicolored, 24-watt bulbs, totaling 3,309. It stands an amazing 155 feet tall. Also around the winter holiday season the park puts up a trail of thousands and thousands of lights.
The park also hosts contracted and permitted services such as the Austin Sunshine Camp, The Rowing Dock, Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum, Zilker Cabin, Zilker Zephyr, and Zilker Park Boat Rentals. The park is generally open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. unless otherwise posted on their website for construction.
With so many activities and events Zilkers Metropolitan Park earns its place in the heart of the community. Its scenic beauty is complimented by the community and culture that has ingrained itself into the park. Its a must visit for all those visiting the Georgetown and Austin Texas area.
